Pattonville POSITIVE School marked its 40th anniversary on Sept. 30 with current and former students and staff returning for a night of celebration.
Pattonville Occupational School Including Technical Individualized Vocational Education opened in the 1981-1982 school year after George Ruh wrote a grant to start the school. He was the first director of the program and was on hand to celebrate with about 100 other people.
“It's just great to see the fact that it's still existing and to see all of the kids that have gone through it and who have made something of themselves after graduating from high school,” he said.
The school was designed as a high school dropout prevention program and the model has gone through several changes over the past 40 years. There are 91 students currently attending POSITIVE School.
Three Pattonville High School seniors have been named a Commended Student in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Corporation. High school principal Ms. Teisha Ashford received letters announcing this distinction which were presented to each student
Six Pattonville High School students were among 20 St. Louis-area high school students chosen through local auditions to participate in the Opera Theatre of St. Louis' highly selective Artists in Training (AIT) program.
The Pattonville High School Pride of Pattonville marching band and color guard won several top awards at their first competition in two years. They earned Best Musical Performance, Best Visual Performance, Best Drumline, Best Guard, 1st Place in Division, and Grand Champion of the entire competition.
Rachel Kerwin, a 2016 Pattonville High School graduate, will be returning to her alma mater to work with the girls lacrosse program.
Pattonville POSITIVE School will be hosting its 40th anniversary celebration on Thursday, Sept. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pattonville High School under the bridge. All current and former students and staff are invited to attend with their families.
